Program Information

Integrated Packaging Machinery, LLC is seeking an Electrical Apprentice to assist with the installation and repair of electrical power systems for motors, control panels, and industrial machinery. This role is part of a State Licensed Apprenticeship Program and provides hands-on experience in industrial electrical systems and automation environments.

The Apprentice Electrician works alongside experienced electricians and mechanics on machine wiring, conveyor systems, and control panel builds while completing required coursework as part of the licensed apprenticeship program.

Training Structure

Apprentices assist with installation of electrical wiring for motors and controls, panel building, and testing of control panels in accordance with National Electrical Code (NFPA 70E) and Underwriters Laboratory Code 508 standards. Training includes exposure to 480VAC, 3-phase systems, motor wiring, and industrial machinery.

Apprentices are required to complete approximately five online Electrical Apprentice courses per year while progressing through the State Licensed Apprenticeship Program. Technical development includes blueprint reading, interpreting electrical schematics, PLC programming, HMI programming, and the use of electrical testing equipment.

Work Environment

Work is performed in industrial environments with exposure to high and low voltage systems, extreme temperatures, and active machinery. Physical demands include standing, sitting, bending, lifting, twisting, crawling, and working underneath equipment.

Travel requirements may reach up to 75% depending on project needs. Apprentices must be able to lift 75+ pounds and work safely on ladders and in high-voltage environments. Vision must be 20/20 or corrected to read prints and wire numbers accurately.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with electrical installation for motors, control systems, and conveyor sections. Inspect, repair, or replace electrical safety hazards. Support internal panel build departments with installation and testing of control panels.

Inventory electrical components for shipment to customer sites. Assist with PLC and HMI programming tasks. Maintain safe wiring practices in compliance with NEC 70E and UL 508 standards. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Program Requirements

  • 0–4 years of trade experience
  • Acceptance into a State Licensed Apprenticeship Program
  • Completion of required online Electrical Apprentice coursework
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret electrical schematics
  • Ability to work with up to 480VAC, 3-phase AC systems
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, EPICOR, or similar ERP software
  • Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in physically demanding environments
