Program Information

Iron Workers Local Union No. 37 offers a comprehensive apprenticeship program through its Joint Apprenticeship Committee. This program combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction, preparing individuals for careers as skilled ironworkers in various sectors of the construction industry.

Programs Offered

  • Ironworker Apprenticeship Program: Training in structural steel erection, reinforcing steel placement, welding, rigging, and ornamental ironwork.

Program Length

The apprenticeship program spans three years and includes:

  • 4,200 hours of on-the-job training
  • 600 hours of classroom instruction

Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Certifications & Career Opportunities

Upon successful completion of the program, apprentices attain journeyman status, qualifying them for various roles in the ironworking industry. Certifications earned may include OSHA 10 and 30, welding certifications, and other trade-specific credentials. Career opportunities encompass structural steel erection, bridge construction, and ornamental ironwork.

Program Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Be physically capable of performing ironwork tasks
  • Pass a drug screening test

Financial Aid & Support Services
