Program Information
Pipeliners Local 798 offers a unique and highly specialized apprenticeship focused on pipeline welding and fabrication for oil and gas transmission. This elite training program produces top-tier welders who work across the nation constructing and maintaining vital pipeline infrastructure. Apprentices are trained in advanced welding processes such as SMAW (stick), GTAW (TIG), and downhill welding, with strict adherence to X-ray quality weld standards.
The program goes beyond welding techniques by incorporating training in blueprint reading, pipe fitting, safety procedures, and jobsite professionalism. Participants receive hands-on instruction in a real-world training yard and through partnerships with active contractors working on major energy projects. Program Length
This is an intensive three-year program requiring 6,000 hours of on-the-job training with approximately 400 hours of classroom instruction. Most instruction is held at the Tulsa training center.
