Program Information

Prime Line Academy offers an intensive lineman training program designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to launch a career in the electrical industry. With over 120 years of combined outdoor line experience—including REA Co-Op, mine construction, and truck driving—our instructors bring real-world expertise to every lesson. The program is registered with the Idaho State Board of Education and focuses on preparing students for success in lineman apprenticeships and beyond.

Programs Offered

  • Lineman Training Program: Hands-on training operating digger derricks, bucket trucks, backhoes, and tractor trailers. Students perform tasks such as setting/removing poles, trenching, installing aerial line equipment, changing transformers, and terminating underground equipment. Training is conducted in 5-man crews simulating real job-site conditions.

Program Length

The program is completed in 11 weeks and includes:

  • Daily hands-on field training with rotating crew assignments
  • Extensive use of line trucks, bucket trucks, climbing gear, and safety equipment
  • Instruction in hot sticking, rubber gloving, and energized line simulations

Graduates earn multiple certifications, including:

  • First Aid/CPR
  • Technical Math
  • OSHA 10
  • Groundman Ticket IBEW 57
  • Flaggers Certification
  • Climbing Certification
  • Pole Top Hurt Man Rescue
  • Bucket Truck Hurt Man Rescue
  • Optional Class A CDL

Program Requirements
