Program Information

The Residential Electrician program at Yavapai College is designed to provide students with foundational skills in residential electrical systems. It focuses on electrical theory, electrical code, wiring methods, and safety procedures. The course is offered entirely online, giving students the flexibility to learn at their own pace, but hands-on lab components may be necessary for full understanding. After completing the program, students will be equipped to begin apprenticeship opportunities and enter the electrical trade as apprentices.

Program Length

The program is self-paced and typically takes around 12 months to complete, with students having up to one year to finish the course. However, additional time may be needed depending on the individual student’s schedule.

Program Requirements

Students are required to have access to a computer and the internet for the online course components. No prior experience in electrical work is required, but students must be prepared to meet the physical demands of the apprenticeship, including working with electrical systems in residential settings. Successful completion of the program will qualify students for entry into an electrical apprenticeship program.
