Job Description
Dowdy Corporation is hiring a Commercial Plumbing Apprentice (Apprentice L1) in Panama City, Florida. This role is a hands-on, mid-level apprentice position within the commercial plumbing division, designed for individuals actively developing skills in plumbing system installation, layout, and jobsite execution.
Apprentices work under the supervision of a superintendent or lead plumber and are expected to perform both helper-level tasks and advancing plumbing duties. This includes working on underground utilities, above-ground piping systems, and full building plumbing layouts from rough-in through trim-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with installation of commercial plumbing systems including DWV and domestic water
- Dig and install underground sanitary sewer and water lines
- Install above-ground piping systems and fittings
- Cut, fit, and glue PVC and CPVC piping according to industry standards
- Lay out plumbing systems based on building plans and specifications
- Assist with rough-in work, slab work, and full system layout
- Perform trim-out tasks including installation of sinks, toilets, and fixtures
- Read and interpret plumbing plans and drawings
- Support jobsite setup, cleanup, and material handling
- Operate hand and power tools such as drills, saws, grinders, and levels
Skills You’ll Build
- Commercial plumbing system layout and sequencing
- DWV (drain, waste, vent) system installation
- Underground and above-ground piping installation
- Blueprint reading and jobsite coordination
- Rough-in, stack-out, and trim-out processes
Job Requirements
- Minimum age of 18
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 75 lbs
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong reliability and work ethic
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Eligible to work in the United States
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site construction work
- Commercial jobsite environment
- Physical labor including lifting, digging, and tool use
- May require flexible hours depending on project needs

Panama City, Florida — working on commercial construction projects in the region.
