Students gain extensive experience working on late-model vehicles in FDTC’s fully equipped automotive labs and are prepared for ASE certification testing.

The Diesel Mechanics program focuses on servicing and maintaining large diesel-powered trucks, industrial engines, agricultural equipment, and heavy machinery. Students learn diesel engine diagnostics, hydraulics, braking systems, fuel systems, vehicle electronics, and powertrain repair. Training takes place in advanced diesel labs designed to replicate real service shop environments. Graduates are prepared for careers in transportation, heavy equipment maintenance, logistics, and fleet service operations.

The HVAC/R program provides students with hands-on experience working with residential, commercial, and industrial heating and cooling systems. Instruction covers system installation, troubleshooting, refrigerant handling, electrical controls, airflow diagnostics, and energy efficiency. FDTC prepares students for EPA 608 certification, making them job-ready for HVAC technician roles across the region.

The Welding program offers comprehensive training in MIG, TIG, Stick, and flux-core welding, along with metal cutting, fabrication, and blueprint interpretation. Students train in modern welding booths and fabrication labs, learning the skills needed for careers in manufacturing, construction, shipbuilding, pipelines, and industrial maintenance. Many graduates pursue advanced certifications to enhance their employability.
