The Plumbers Local Union No. 1 Training Center offers a comprehensive five-year apprenticeship program registered with the New York State Department of Labor. Program Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry into the apprenticeship program.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).
- Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job.
- Must provide proof of United States residency.
- Must pass a New York State Department of Labor approved aptitude test and participate in an interview process.
- Must pass a drug test, including screening for marijuana.
Financial Aid & Support Services
The apprenticeship program is offered without tuition charges, funded through contributions from employers and the union. Apprentices earn while they learn, receiving wages that increase progressively as they advance through the program. Additional support services include academic counseling and career placement assistance to ensure apprentices’ success both during and after the program.
