Job Description
Dow is offering paid U.S. Apprenticeship Program opportunities at its Hayward, California facility for individuals seeking a long-term technical career in advanced manufacturing. This structured 2–3 year apprenticeship combines hands-on work experience in Dow’s chemical plants with community college coursework leading to a company-paid Associate’s Degree.
Apprentices earn wages, paid tuition, and select benefits during the program. Upon successful completion, graduates are highly considered for full-time employment with Dow and commit to a two-year employment period if offered a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot plant equipment and control systems
- Monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates
- Adjust control systems and manually operated equipment
- Follow operating procedures to ensure safe and efficient plant operations
- Troubleshoot process, quality, safety, and environmental issues
- Assist with maintenance and project work under safe work permit systems
- Install, maintain, and repair industrial instrumentation and electrical systems (Instrument/Electrical track)
- Read and interpret electrical, logic, and loop diagrams
- Diagnose and replace defective instrumentation components
Compensation & Program Details
- Hourly Pay Rate: $25.38 (non-negotiable)
- Paid tuition toward an Associate’s Degree
- Paid wages during apprenticeship
- Some benefits included during program
- Expected start date between June 8 and August 3
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of Algebra or Technical Math and Science coursework
- Chemistry and/or Physics coursework preferred
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (preferred)
- Must be at least 18 years old by start date
- Valid U.S. driver’s license or ability to obtain prior to start
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship)
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Climb ladders and work at heights
- Work in confined spaces
- Wear and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work safely in industrial manufacturing environments
