Program Overview
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) provides apprenticeship and career training programs across the United States, including Mississippi, through the Southeastern Carpenters Regional Council. These programs combine classroom instruction with on-the-job experience, allowing apprentices to learn directly from seasoned professionals. Training focuses on modern construction methods, blueprint reading, safety practices, and material handling to prepare workers for the demands of the carpentry and construction industries.

Hands-On Training
Apprentices gain real-world experience working on active job sites under the supervision of journeyman carpenters. Training modules typically include:
- Framing and structural assembly
- Interior and exterior systems installation
- Millwright setup, alignment, and precision maintenance
- Pile driving, rigging, and heavy construction techniques
- Blueprint interpretation and layout
- Tool safety and job site best practices
Certifications & Career Preparation
- Prepares apprentices for journey-level status in the carpentry trade
- Includes OSHA 10- and 30-hour safety certifications
- Offers rigging, scaffolding, and fall-protection certifications
- Meets Department of Labor and NCCER apprenticeship standards
Graduates qualify for union construction positions across Mississippi and throughout the Southeastern United States. Many advance into supervisory, foreman, or project management roles within the construction industry.

Admission Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Physically capable of performing carpentry work
- Valid driver’s license recommended
Financial Aid & Support Services
UBC apprenticeships are tuition-free and funded jointly by union members and participating contractors. Apprentices earn competitive wages and benefits as they train. Additional support services may include academic tutoring, safety courses, and employment placement assistance after program completion.
