Training Structure
The program combines hands-on construction experience with required classroom instruction for each trade. Apprentices support Journeymen while progressively gaining independence as skills develop. Training includes tool handling, site task execution, and trade-specific skill development in both field and academic environments.
Apprentices perform less-skilled tasks initially and advance into more complex responsibilities over time. Classroom training may occur outside of normal working hours. Step wage increases occur throughout enrollment as goals are met under apprenticeship standards.
Work Environment
Work is performed on large commercial, industrial, and governmental construction sites. Apprentices must be able to travel daily and/or overnight to job sites as needed. Work may include flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Projects are conducted outdoors in uncontrolled climates and industrial environments. Apprentices must be willing to work under the supervision of a Journeyman as a trainee while maintaining safety standards in a drug-free workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Perform various construction site duties that vary by trade. Support Journeymen in daily operations and complete assigned tasks with increasing independence as skills improve. Assist with tool handling and execution of trade-specific installation and construction activities.
