Advanced Roofing ABC Roofing Apprenticeship Program – Fort Lauderdale, FL
Program Information
Advanced Roofing’s ABC Roofing Apprenticeship Program is a nationally accredited, employer-sponsored apprenticeship designed to train the next generation of commercial roofing professionals in South Florida. Launched in partnership with the Associated Builders and Contractors Institute (ABCI), Advanced Roofing became a founding participant in this program to address the skilled labor shortage in the commercial roofing industry. The program is structured as a true earn-while-you-learn pathway, combining full-time paid employment with formal classroom and lab instruction.
This apprenticeship is built specifically for commercial roofing careers, not residential roofing. Apprentices train directly on active job sites under experienced roofing professionals while also attending structured classroom sessions held onsite at Advanced Roofing’s Fort Lauderdale headquarters. The program is designed to fast-track participants into Roofing Mechanic II or Leadman roles on a crew, providing clear upward mobility rather than indefinite entry-level labor.
The program emphasizes real-world commercial roofing systems and techniques, including tear-off operations, material handling, hot asphalt applications, equipment use, and jobsite organization. Apprentices learn industry safety standards, teamwork, communication, and productivity expectations that are essential for long-term success in commercial construction environments. Because training takes place within a single employer, apprentices develop consistency in methods, safety culture, and performance standards.
A defining feature of Advanced Roofing’s apprenticeship is its integration with higher education. Through a formal partnership with Broward College, graduates of the program earn up to 27 college credits upon successful completion. These credits can be applied toward an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, allowing apprentices to continue advancing academically while building a skilled trade career.
Graduates of the program are positioned for long-term careers in commercial roofing, with earning potential of $50,000 or more annually after completion. The apprenticeship is designed not just to teach roofing skills, but to develop reliable, safety-conscious professionals capable of leading crews and advancing within the company.
