As a founding member of the American Builders and Contractors Institute (ABCI), Advanced Roofing designed this program to grow South Florida’s skilled roofing workforce while offering clear advancement and earning potential.
Apprentices gain hands-on jobsite experience paired with classroom instruction in roofing systems, safety procedures, installation methods, and professional work practices. Graduates can advance to Roofing Mechanic II or Leadman and typically earn $50,000 or more annually. The program also includes opportunities to earn college credits through Broward College, enabling apprentices to pursue associate or bachelor’s degrees.
Hands-On Training
Apprentices receive paid, real-world experience in:
- Roof demolition, tear-off, scraping, and removal of old roofing materials.
- Lifting, transporting, and staging roofing materials (often 50+ lbs).
- Climbing ladders, hoisting materials, and working safely at heights.
- Applying roofing systems, hot tar transport, and equipment setup.
- Jobsite cleanup, equipment maintenance, and securement of materials.
- Following detailed job instructions and safety protocols in extreme weather conditions.
Certification & Licensing Prep
- Nationally accredited through ABCI (Associated Builders and Contractors Inc.).
- Completion includes 4,000 hours of On-the-Job Training (OJT).
- Graduates earn 27 college credits applicable toward degrees at Broward College.
- Training prepares apprentices for advanced roofing mechanic roles and leadership positions.
Career Paths & Salary Outlook
- Year 1 – Apprentice I: $18–$20 per hour
- Year 2 – Apprentice II: $19–$21 per hour

Program Length

- Class Schedule: Every other Friday, 7am–3pm
